When a police service dog retires, typically the handler will retire the dog into his or her home. They’ll incorporate the dog into their family.
This comes with considerable cost to the handler. Costs include a kennel, dog house, food and veterinary care.
The S.D.P.C.A. comes to the aid of the retiring police dog. With the money the association raises from programs such as the coffee funds, merchandise sales and public donations the S.D.P.C.A. assists with the purchase of essential items to make the retiring canine comfortable in his post service years.
After serving his community, the dog deserves a comfortable retirement. Can you help? Donate
