Jake
jake-2

On the night of Tuesday, January 22nd, 2008, Jake and his handler responded to a report of a man threatening people with a knife. They arrived to find a man wielding a knife on a third floor exterior balcony of a motel.  The only safety feature keeping them from falling off the balcony was an old iron railing.

Jake’s handler / partner confronted the man ordering him to drop the knife.  The man refused and Jake was released. Jake did his job by attempting to take the man to the ground.  The mentally unstable man began stabbing Jake.  Jake stayed in the fight and he and his handler / partner were able to take the suspect into custody.

Jake’s actions saved the man’s life and the life of his partner. He survived the incident and was treated for multiple stab wound’s. Jake was treated and has since been release into the care of his handler.

Jake is now home recovering very well. Were it not for the shaved coat, one wouldn’t know Jake had been injured.  According to his handler, Jake is comfortable and happy. He should be back to work within the month.
