Supporters Respond to Support Canine Officer Reiko

The KUSI News heard of Canine Officer Reiko's need for an expensive surgery. Reiko, a retired police dog, needed back surgery to relieve the pressure from his spine resulting from a ruptured disk  The pressure was causing Reiko to loose control of his legs. KUSI contacted the S.D.P.C.A. with a desire to do a news story to help raise money.

The story ran on January 14, 2004. The KUSI audience responded in great numbers; we're pleased to say the money has been raised for Reiko's surgery.  Reiko's handler, and all of the
S.D.P.C.A. members are touched by the massive support and wish a sincere thank you to those who donated.
